HOLY MOLY, MACANOLY!! And FREE Stamps!

Have you all heard about the new changes at SU! ?? (I am NOT an SU! Demonstrator; I just feel very strongly about FREEDOM!)

read FAQ's here

Crapola, what is this world coming to? This type of Big Brother control just rubs me the wrong way!! I can not abide by this kind of thing. It's one thing to tell Reps not to post "contraband" on their SU! Blogs, but to tell them they can't post it anywhere, even on a personal non-SU blog, or link to it in gallery's and forums that promote other competing products? Where do they think all of those customers are coming from? People see the stamp in use at SCS or some other big site, and rush to buy it through the link back to SU rep (if they don't have a rep already). Not anymore! Those Reps won't be allowed to link to SCS and other "competing" sights anymore!!

Well, I for one, am putting my money where my mouth is with this pledge: I will never again buy an SU! product or any other product from a "control freaky" organization. And I wll not give them free advertising by using their products and posting it on ANY site I frequent. Therefore, I have a bunch of SU! Stamps I no longer have a use for. Good, I need to make room anyway.

So, here's what I'm going to do! I'm going to collect comments on this blog post for 2 weeks, and choose a randomly generated winner to GIVE all of my SU! stamps to! I'll even pay the shipping to get them out of my house! (I considered excluding SU! Reps from this offer, but decided against it; I'd almost rather give them to a Rep - They ** have ** to advertise SU!, but the rest of us don't! If I give them to a customer, that's more potential for FREE advertising to SU! Well, it won't be ME doing the FREE advertising for them!) Anyone who posts a comment qualifies.

Here's what you will get FREE: I have 22 sets of SU! stamps that are in boxes, plus about 4 other sets that are loose. Many are cut & mounted, but many are not. I do warn you, though: I'm not one of those people who keeps her stamps scrupilously clean. Some of these are used, and have ink stains. They're FREE, what more can you ask for? grin. These stamps are older stamps from approximately 2000-2004. There are 3 Alpha sets, 1 from 2001, 2002, & 2003. I won't post pics, because that would be FREE advertising; you'll just have to be surprised. :o)

I hope I get a TON of comments. But, maybe you don't want to support this company with FREE advertising either, even if you get the product FREE. :o) If that's the case, please leave me a comment about that, too. I'll exclude you from the drawing!

Drawing will occur at 10:00 PM CST on Tuesday, September 15, 2009
(PS: I fyou don't leave a link to your blog or your e-mail addy, I won't have a way to contact you. I will post it here, though, so be sure and check back after 9/15. If you leave your addy in your post, please write it like this to help keep it safe from phishers: "jane dot doe at yahoo dot com")

As always, thanks for stopping by! Happy Stampin'!

Ursula,

I find it horrible if it's true indeed BUT I would be so willing to give your stamps a new and loving home... for my daughter to use too. She can get them even less scrupilously clean. ;)

Seriously, if I'm honored enough to win your giveaway, they would be loved very, very, very much.

Hugs
Kim

I will definitely pass this on Ursi! After all since you already spent your hard earned money on the stamps years ago, it won't be as if those selfish people will be making more money off of them. ;0)

Wow, talk about the iron hammer and shutting down your personal freedom....You know the more you try to control, the less control you have in the end. So very sad.

In FL we work with a group of seniors in rehab and nursing homes that like to stamp and they can always use some stamps. I doubt they'll be giving free advertising to SU and I know they would be quite grateful.

It will be interesting to see what happens in the next few weeks with this new rule- I am not a demo thankfully, so I am not sure if I will be affected in the fallout or not.......I will post this link and I bet there are many who would be excited to 'get it all' and take it off your hands. Lots of day cares and teachers or churches would prob make really good use of all of it!

I heard about this from a friend who is a demo but will not be anymore due to the "reforms" and I SO agree that I would now advertise or purchase from them. However, I would love to make a home for any of your used stamps. I work with the Children's Dept at our church and my husband is the Youth Director - right now we are making cards to send to the wounded in Afghanistan and could certainly use some stamps as the kids find it hard to make up their own repeatedly.

I'm sorry this new change has affected you so drastically. But I can always use more stamps, especially if they are free. Mary R

Wow. As a former Demo, I am shocked by this. SU! really needs to learn to embrace the internet - all of it - Twitter, Facebook, SCS, forums, etc - have done wonders for some companies taking many small businesses into huge ones (case and point - Papertrey Inc). If SU! continues on this anti-internet path, I fear that things will only get worse for them!

Whatever the case, I will still purchase from them (as long as they stick around! LOL) only because I think they do provide images and products that no one yet compares to. However, I will be tapering off my purchases to the bare minimum. I've already had thoughts of switching all my paper/ink/ribbon to only Papertrey, so now maybe this is the time?

Anyway, I'd be glad to take these sets off your hands and give them new homes!

I get lots deail from others su cards that posted.... ithink called su and explin has a coustor ans see if you help you deoms. How to many times. can we leave a comments? I think buy complain that will help deom will it?

I am a demonstrator, and can see where SU is coming from. However, they are asking a lot from their demonstrators. I have two initial thoughts. 1. Start my own SCSish web site where only SU products are promoted and used. (It might be small and boring, but SU may be forced to produce a wider variety of product).
2.Sit back and relax until the smoke settles, see how SU gets out of this one, and ride the ride to huge recovery plan!
It is a shock to put such limits on paper artist- It is like asking Vangough to paint with one color- ain't gonna happen.

I did not want to be anonymous. I am a SU demonstrator- amd proud of it! I just don't know how to use my computer!

I totally agree with your post and I understand how you and several others that I have read about feel. Even when I post on my own blog I am constantly advertising for SU and I didn’t even realize it. I am not a demo, but I was thinking about singing up with the special that just ended. I have to admit that I am so glad that I decided not to. I truly love stamping and it's my only 'out' so to speak.
I'm a stay at home mother of three children and my husband's job is not looking very good right now so I haven't been able to purchase any new stampin items. I would be thrilled to give your stamps a new home and I thank you for this opportunity.

Dawn, and any other SU reps: I have noting at all against you as Reps. I hope I did not offend you. Actually I feel for you very deeply; I think you are being railroaded terribly! This is a republic, after all! :o)

This will be an interesting time to watch what goes on. I'm not a demo and just started into card making this spring.

Wow Ursula! This sorta cracks me up! How awesome that you are so passionate when something ticks you off! Even though I'm bummed about this and will stop being a demo, I can't say I'll give up my mass amount of SU stamps anytime soon. :-) I'd love to win yours, just bc if they are older there's a good chance they'll fetch a good price on ebay, LOL! But I guess it would be better if they went to somebody who will do good with them... sigh... LOL!

Rockin Robin Caldwell said...

Ursula...a friend of mine linked me to your post. I won't lie to you...I am a "rubber addict" and will take any stamps that I can get. I am not a SU demo, but I do like alot of their stuff. However, I do demo for another stamp company, which will remain nameless. As far as I know, they don't have such a policy. I do know that they do dictate for demo's to not promote other stamps on their business websites/blogs...but no control over what is on their personal blogs. I do not have a blog, so it really doesn't pertain to me..but will investigate this further. Yup...kind of socialistic/dictatorial of SU to make such rules. Throw my name in the hat for those "repulsive" stamps. PS: I also find their prices to be very high as well. Just my dollars worth here!!! Hisses, Rockin Robin Caldwell

Not a SU demo, but I do love to use their products. I am a "hobby stamper", I share my supplies with my nieces (sister's don't stamp/scrap)...so I'd take your SU stamps and pass them to the girls!!!

Wow Ursula! You go girl! I too am disgusted with this new policy. I don't buy all that much SU stuff anymore, but I can't bring myself to get rid of what I have and I haven't found paper I like as well so I might have to keep purchasing that from them, but only that! You are amazing that you are going to give away your SU sets!

Ashley said...

I'm not big on the SU stamps anymore either. I will no longer be purchasing anything from them. However, I would love to have your stamps. I'm in a CO-OP and parent participation preschool system and I remember how much I LOVED to stamp as a child. I would LOVE to let the kiddos go wild and make stamped art but I'm not willing to offer up my "good" stamps. :)

Phyllis Freese said...

I'm glad I'm not a demo for SU. Most of my stash is from a variety of companies. I love the freedom to buy what I want and not be tied down to any particular company. I applaud you for your convictions. I'd love to give your stamp collection a home at my house if my name is drawn.
Thanks for being so generous.

Jennifer said...

I like the way you think...not b/c of the free stamps but b/c of what you believe in! I think that (the way you think) is great! And like you said, putting your $$ where your mouth is! WTG!! Don't them them dictate to y'all like that! I think it's horrible that SU is doing this to it's demonstrators!!

Vi said...

I can understand that SU is trying to hang on to it's customer base and I agree that it has a right to require that the demo's only use SU products at workshops etc, however, extending that requirement to personal blogs, facebook and Twitter is a unreasonable and will backfire on them. That said, my little afterwork stamp club would love to give any of your stamps a good home and lots of loving care.

Ashley in Austin said...

Ursula,

I understand why you're so ticked. I quit my demoship over the can't demo for 2 companies that have the same type products when SU decided to start selling vinyl decor. I can't say I'm surprised by this newest rule coming down from on high, just that it didn't come down sooner.

Take heart that there is a life after SU and you will enjoy your freedom!

Wendi K said...

I feel totally bad for these SU demos that count on this money for crafts. It is hard to chose one company. Several great designers are also SU people How could they make these people choose one or the other? I am sure with these people promoting like they do with all the followers they have it helps their business. But I hope these SU Demos stand their ground and let them know they are not going to bully them around. But then I feel bad for those who count on this money from SU to help pay the bills or put food on the table. I would hate to be in your shoes.

Well thanks for this time for us to vent.

dawn said...

I feel that they are shooting themselves in the foot. Can you say "over-controlling"? Sometimes, change is NOT a good thing.

With that said, Thank you for the chance to win your sets. My daughter and 7 yr. old granddaughter have just started making cards and would love your sets. They don't have alot of sets to "play" with. Thanks again!!

Barbara said...

I am not a demo for SU and never have been. I very recently got into making cards and made my first SU purchase this summer. I didn't know about SU until I saw some cards I liked on a blog and some of the products were SU.
For a decade or more we have seen more and more companies feel entitled to dictate what people can or cannot do in their personal lives. I have been appalled that everyone was just rolling over and accepting it. I am "so proud" of the woman who are taking a stand on this. I realize there demos who need the money they make from selling SU products so they can't rock the boat. But there seem to be plenty of customers and other demos who are willing to draw a line in the sand and say " "enough " !!

Barb said...

I agree - I find that SU is getting a little paranoid about competition. Gone are the days when they were the main company. I love their products but also buy from other companies with better prices for Canadians. Sorry you're so upset but I understand.

Anonymous said...

Interesting- I totally agree with you... and yet I really want those free stamps! I that sick and wrong?
I always buy my stamps off the buy/sell list anyway and never from SU because I can't afford the prices.
Anyway- it's a very generous offer on your part. Thanks for the chance to play!

I agree with the freedoms we have in this country and it is what makes this country so great.

I think that SU is feeling the crunch of the ecomony and is taking this drastic measure to eliminate competition, but I also think that this will backfire.

I love there stamps as I do many other companies but I feel that placing such demands on their demonstrators is against what America stands for "freedom"!

Karen said...

Wow....way to make a stand for something you believe in! Bravo! I would love to be entered in the drawing, however, as I work with a group of children to make cards for those in need. Thanks for the chance and what a great lesson I will surely pass on to these kids about standing up for what is right!

kc_froglady said...

Geez Ursula What a bold statement this is :) I agree 100% with you that the control factor has gotten....well....totally out of control in this case! Big brother times about 400 or so!

I will say include me only for the fact that I have a local nursing home that I take stamping materials too and they haven't had new stamps for awhile. I simply can't afford stamps on top of paper and ink LOL! So new stamps would be a treat for them and everyone's cards would stop looking all the same year after year LOL! I don't have many SU stamps at all probably can count them on one hand. I guess I never felt I had to buy from only 1 place and I won't conform to that type of "rule"

Juliet A said...

I fell out of love with SU a long time ago. I support your actions 100%, and no, I don't want your stamps either.

Donna Moore said...

Well, crapola, I love SU stamps but agree with your stand. Sometimes doing the right thing presents discomfort. I do not want to be in the giveway, just want to give you my support. There are too many freedoms being snatched away from us right now, now, it is coming into our very personal niches where we are using our creativity. This is not good!!
Thanks for standing by your beliefs!!

FireCracker082 said...

BRAVO!! Stand up for all the ones who want to say something and are afraid to rock that boat!! The fact that they are actually telling these demos they can't even link to their friends blogs, if their friends are promoting other stamp companies is the most ridiculous thing I've ever heard. ESPECIALLY for the ones who have private blogs (that also include a badge saying they are SU demos)....I mean..really?? We still have the right to freedom of speech, don't we? How do they plan on policing all those blogs? Are they also going to set up a site so whistle blowers can turn in the non-compliant demonstrators? Where will this end? I will say this, this move sure has gotten people talking about SU! lol Good luck everyone! (I don't want the stamps either, I'm proud to design my own.....lol)

Miki said...

I agree with you 100%. I'm not a demo either, and this whole thing makes me sick, and want to scream! I can only imagine how many of the actual demos feel right now.

I almost became a demo once, but because of another of their rules, I could not. I use my stamps unmounted on acrylic blocks-- and that would be breaking yet another of their rules of "demo-ship." Wow--- what a stifling company!

That said, please include me in the drawing. My kids would love them, and I could burn the wood in effigy. lol

Basement Stamper said...

I can't stand the new policy (not a demo)and think it's hurting their business. Good for you for sticking by your guns!!!

no need to include me in the drawing I already have about 40 sets of my own I'm trying to get rid of.

Hi Ursula, I found your comment on Paperlicious and thought I could use these for my card ministry at my church. I WAS a hobbyist demo for four years but I won't have them control my PERSONAL BLOG and how I TYPE!!!!!!!!!!

However, my card ministry could benefit from your generosity, so if I win, YEA! If not, Congrats to the gal who does!

KUDOS TO YOU FOR MAKING A HUGE STATEMENT! I promise I won't be purchasing anymore SUP either!

Blessings, Nicole

I'm not an SU demo, but I am, shortly to be was a demo for another company that is getting rid of hobby demos! I still love the stamps but I can't afford to be a demo anymore. I love SU, and thought about making a business with them, until I saw the new rules. I guess I'm meant to just be a customer!

Sophia said...

Ok - this is insane. I hardly buy SU! products because I find them to be very pricy and I just don't have that kind of disposable income to spend. But I would gladly take any free ones! lol (Who doesn't love free - especially when you're broke! lol)

yoorah said...

I agree! But I'll take free stamps! LOL!

Colleen Laux said...

guess I am in the minority here (at least as far as though commenting here) I too am a hobby demonstrator with a small customer base. I have no real issues with their new "restrictions." I do not feel that the new policy infringes on my "freedom of speech" any more than other restrictions that already exist from prior SU policies, policies from my day job, and restrictions imposed by polite society. There is nothing that says I can only craft with SU products and there is nothing that says I can't show projects on my blog that use no SU products. As a SU demonstrator, however, SU rightfully does not want me actively promoting the competetion through my online communications. Seems perfectly reasonable and very workable IMHO.

On the other hand, I do respect others rights to disagree and beleive that ulimately each current SU demonstrator must sit back, review the new agreement, and decide what is right for them.

Wow, this is outrageous. We all should be one big happy family sharing our ideas and supplies to all. SU products blend so well with products from other companies and this should help SU as well as the others. It is a shame they are putting this restriction on creativity. I would love to receive your stamps so I could give them to my daughter to further spark her creativity and pass on the the stamping "bug".

I am glad that you're taking a stand for what you believe in. I'm a hobby SU demo and I'm trying to decide how I feel about this. I have a blog, I don't link to anyone, and I post SUO on my blog (although maybe retired sometimes), but I don't care for the message that they're giving demos.

Kathy said...

When I read and heard about this, I was heartbroken for all the demos. I am not one, but I love to papercraft when I can. I am impressed that you can take such a stand like this and give everything away. You are very generous, and it will all come back to you.

I was telling my friend, Susan about your blog post. She was a SU demo, but not anymore. Thanks again for the opportunity to give your stamps a new home.

I think Su is shooting themselves in the foot. I am not a demo but was considering it. But after this I have decided it is not for me. However I would love to "win" your stamps. I agree that SU is making a big mistake. Like you said, many people probably see SU products on those blogs that they are shutting out. I would love to win your stamps as I tend to love the older images more than the newer ones. Lately I've just been buying cardstock from them. Happy Stamping!

SU is losing many demos from this.
I don't blame any of them. I myself will be quitting as I am NOT SUO and it is wrong to think that they can force people to be. By their new rules my sister and I cannot talk on Facebook and link to each other on any site.

I'm not a demo and just a casual customer, but the S.U. "crackdown" has me rather fumed, too. But I do love the S.U. products I have - don't have a blog so I'm not a "pusher" - and will continue to use the stuff I have. I'd use yours, too! ;)

It makes me sad to see all the misconceptions posted here. Demos do NOT have to be SU Only and they CAN link to sites like SCS, just not directly to competing stores. These new rules did not affect me in the least. I'm sorry for those that will have to choose between SU and DTs for other companies. But it didn't make sense to me that they could do both anyways.

I think SU is really going to find a lot of demos leave because of this policy. I wonder if the future SU will be a direct sale store instead of demo sales.

Way to take a stand. I sold SU for a very brief time, because I didn't like all their tiny stupid rules. Guess SU just hasn't caught on yet or maybe they just don't need the extra money. Any way glad you took a stand.

Ursula,
Thank you for the chance to get some stamp sets. I'm not a demo but love to stamp. I quit smoking many years ago and have found that stamping helps me a lot. I don't understand why SU is placing such restrictions on their demos because if I see a card I want to case it may have SU stamps or their accessories so I buy them. Promote all the companies. Everyone's trying to make a living, not a killing.

Paula Barin said...

I agree with you. I am not a demo but a purchaser of SU products. SU will find out they may have been a little rash with their decision when their sales decrease and their demos quit. If my demonstrator quits I doubt I'll order from SU any more. I know competition is stiff, but there's room for everyone.Chill out SU!
Please exclude me from your give a way.
Thank you.

Taylor said...

I totally agree with what you are doing!! Even though they have already revised their stance, I still think what they are doing is a slap in the face to their hobby demos and supporters - they seem greedy and unwilling to subject themselves to competition.

I'm not a demo, but I do think that SU! is being a little ridiculous about this whole internet policy. And seriously, who is going to "police" all their demos personal and SU blogs? Them? Doubtful. Thanks for the chhance to win your stamps---I'll do some FREE advertising for SU!.

sharon said...

I agree with above comments, I think SU is shooting themselves in the foot. The internet and blogs are they way things are now for finding new ideas. In our every changing world of technology some organizations feel they need to draw lines. I wonder how many sales were lost? I am not a demo, thankfully, and I think the new "rules" are ridiculous! So sad to hear all these comments! Everyone has a right to their opionion, so here is mine! I am a proud SU Demonstrator, and will remain one! (obviously in the minority here) No one likes rules... I sell SU products because I believe they are the "best". If I truly want to sell SU products, why would I link to other venders that would take my customer's money. That could potentially be "my money"? I began my blog to promote what I sell. It appears that SU may be losing many, many, talented artists. But, each must make their own choice. We all have that freedom of choice!

If I may be included in your random drawing, please include me! I stamp with Seniors, and would love to provide them the opportunity to enjoy your unwanted Stampin' Up! collection!

There was a point in time where Cm was very controlling like that too. I left them when I realized how controlling they were being. While there's not many (make that zero) SU stamps in the present catalog I would consider buying, I really have a soft spot for some of their older stamps. So, yes, I'd be willing to give your older SU stamps a good home:)
I'm with ya all the way on their new policies...it does leave a bad taste in one's mouth.

I am a demo for SU and I love their stuff, I am a hobbyist, however and have yet to sign the new agreement. SU has amended it already, and are not asking their demos to not use other stuff, but instead, if they do and post it, just not say where they got it, instead of saying Basic Gray DSP on their blog just say designer paper. They are looking at blogs as kind of an online workshop and like any workshop, you wouldn't sell competitors products or send your customers to a competitor.
I use other companies stuff, too, but I do love SU. I wasnt a a demo in the the first half of the decade, so any stamps I could win would be well loved. thanks so much for sharing, and for letting me clarify the subject some.

I agree with you 110% about the SU policy! I feel that if I am paying for something, it's mine to do with as I please! That's like the cable people telling me what stations I can watch on my own TV!!! I am fairly new to stamping and I will take anything! I do loads of cards for my Sunday School class and in my English Bulldog Rescue group. I promise that if I win, these will be the last SU stamps for me! Hooray for standing up!! You go girl! We rednecks in Myrtle Beach, SC are behind you!

The SU issue seems to be a awful decision to make for many people who count on their earnings to help out with the family budget. America is a land of personal freedoms and I know where my limited spending choices will be going in the future.
I do have a card ministry at our church and work with seniors and other groups to make Cards for Heroes and other organizations. I would use your items to brighten the day of people in need.

I saw this link on another blog. Please don't enter me as I have no use for them and would rather not promote SU. I just wanted to say I admire you for taking a stand. It's one thing if you are getting the stamps for free and being paid to use them, but when you have to invest your own money to be told how and what you can do on your own personal sites then that is totally different to me.

I can't say I'm happy about the new policies. Alot of people I talk to are really upset. I hope whoever wins your stamps will put thm to a good use, including me. Take care.

I am not a demo (but boy have I been solicited a lot the last few years). I do have a lot of money invested in SU stamps only. A few years ago, a woman who needed cash wanted to sell her entire collection and at a fraction of the price (she was ill and not stamping anymore). I gave her a check 400 more than what she was asking. Some were duplicates which I gave away. If that woman were advertising this on her blog today, I wonder what SU would do? There were other stamps in the mix, a paper cutter from Carl, inks not SU. Would that have shut her down? Fined her? This whole deal was the talk the last few days in all the forums and blogs. I cant remember the last time I actually used a set on a card and posted it to my blog-maybe three years. I have yet to hear from my SU demo (who btw is in the top 20 in sales in the USA) and I doubt I will. She gets free trips from this company every year. Her husband is a lawyer and I am sure he can interpret the new changes and tell her exactly what to tell us. I got the mini catalog yesterday from SU and didn't even open it. If I win this, I will make sure to call the local Girl Scout office and see about setting up a scrap/stamp night to give these away along with a huge crate of my own goodies. I live in an area so depressed right now that these kids need to know they can be creative and get thru the unemployment of their parents and the bankruptcy of the school systems and that things will get better. Thanks Ursula for offering this and boy, I certainly don't think we have heard the last of this topic.

I can't believe what you're saying- I don't have a blog as yet but I follow quite a few and the only reason I wanted SU products was because I saw what the demo had done with it.They are going to find their sales plumetting but it serves them right. As a volunteer tutor for elderly people in card making i would certainly appreciate anything and everything you can give so they could be used for these people. Shame Shame Shame on SU

Rita said...

Don't put me on your list, I just want to comment. I totally agree with you. I've always hated their rules , that's why I never wanted to be a demo but I was seriously thinking about it for the last 6 months because I had friends & family telling me I should so I could make some money for my stamping addiction. Now I KNOW I will not join, this company is shooting itself in the foot. I've always thought that if I buy your product to make things I should have the right to sell what I make...thats the whole point isn't it? Yes I make stuff to give away but I would like to sell a few things once in awhile, what's so wrong with that. I know some demos who have to stop being on design teams now because of this rule & that I find very unjust & sad.

Laural-Lee said...

Hi Ursula

I recently became a demo and blogger. Feeling just a little discouraged. While the new rules don't affect my blog (or very little) it does affecting my crafting relationships? With the new terms SU has done a horrible job at PR. Unfortunately, I may have to leave SU! not because I feel overly moderated but because I'll be loosing current and potential customers like yourself. I'm going to continue what I've been doing and wait until the dust settles...in the mean time I could get plenty of use out of your stamps.

Anonymous said...

As a demonstrator, we have direct access to information about this and you have been misinformed. I can still post pictures on SCS and my blog, all SU! is asking is that we don't say things like "Ink used is Tim Holtz's Distress Inks" and "get it at Michaels" or link to the Papertrey Ink website. Obviously do what you want with your stamps but spreading negative propaganda without verifying your facts is irresponsible blogging. Also, you say you feel for us demos but then you go badmouthing SU! & obviously that influences those who follow you which stinks for those of us trying to make some money (or for others, a career) out of this.

Also SU! is giving demonstrators the opportunity to sign it or to quit - it isn't like we're being bound to some type of contract and have no rights to do what we want to - we just can't do whatever we want with our business because we work for SU!.

Please get your facts straight before posting such negative propaganda!!!

I'm new to stamping and have noticed that some of SU's business practices are frustrating. These most recent changes regarding the Demo's seems a bit extreme. It will be interesting to see if they ultimately decide to back off the new policy a bit. Seems like it would be difficult to monitor anyhow.

Good for you! Actually, I will not buy another SU item again, and I emailed demonstrator support and told them so. I just cannot buy from a company whose policies I find so oppresive and offensive. I can understand controlling what is on a SU business blog - but personal blogs!! They seem to think that they can actually control social networking sites - the whole Internet and social networking is based on the premise of organized anarchy - which is why it is so rampant and continues to expand. I feel sad for the demos - they have a difficult decision to make and SU is placing them in a very difficult situation. I don't want to hurt my demo by not supporting her, but I just feel strongly that if I don't believe in a companies policies to a point where I find them morally offensive, I just cannot support that company - it would be hypocritical of me.

BTW - Please don't place me in the drawing for your SU goodies - I hope someone gets them who can put them to good use and enjoy them.

I won't be giving any of my stamps away because I use them all of the time. On the other hand I won't stop using other companies stamps either! I am going to a scrap for Ronald McDonald house here locally and I suggested we get a box or two of stuff we are not using to have in the Ronald McDonald house for family's to use to take their minds off of their worries, entertain older children, etc. I would love to pass along your stamps to this great project. 22 stamp sets would more than start us up!

I'm a hobby SU demo and I knew NOTHING about this until today when it popped up on a blog and I hopped over to read what has everyone so upset.
I'm shocked actually, I think this is a bit too far for SU's control over the demo's. I think most demo's do their best to make sales for the company and having them not mention any other companies on personal blogs is overkill.
I have a very good friend, a true sister of the heart and we both would be grateful for such a great giveaway. I would split them with her as we both are a bit tight on funds and I'm spending lots of time working on my Masters in Education.

It's like they're scared of a little competition! Anywho...you are awesome for this offer! There's a local craft local for low income families to send their kids and elderly to "pass time" and would come very in handy. I would give mine away but after my mother's passing in June...well...we were left pretty strapped for cash and have resorted to sell mine for a bit of extra income. Anywho...thanks for the opp!

I finally was able to see the language on a blog that was linked to you, & I agree that SU! is going above & beyond their boundaries. I did find it amazing that demos were allowed to have blogs w/other companies on them as well as being a design team member for other companies. If they would've cut it off there, it would be fine, but they've decided to play big brother. Hooray to you for getting rid of your stamps & taking a stand!

While my daughter was in Iraq, I decided to get into stamping cards for her unit. Now I make about 60 a month for a nursing home. I'm also giving away blog candy to people who join in w/the Cards For Heroes organization for the Christmas card challenge. I would like to pass on some of these stamps with a note to the winner why I'm also giving them away. Maybe if more people join together in making so much noise about getting rid of their items, maybe SU! will back down on some of their riduculous demands & realize that they aren't & never will be Disney!

I used to be a SU demo. When I read about these changes the first thing that came to mind was "I am so glad I am not a demo anymore!" When I would do a workshop, if someone asked me if they could purchase a product we sold in our catalog but was also sold in stores, like a paper cutter, which was a better buy, I would be very honest and let them know they could use a coupon elsewhere and get it cheaper. Most people need to make their dollar stretch as far as they can. I, too, believe that this policy that mandates demos personal blogs is bad business.

I am not going to be signing the new agreement at the end of the month. I can understand their position but I don't agree with it so they leave me with no other choice. I am submitting this as annonous, I do not wish to win your stamps, I just wasted to voice my opinion at a place where I won't be chastised for it!! Another sad thing that will come from this is all the little tattle tale demonstrators who will be reporting violating blogs. And SU will probably find a way to reward this behavior. The thought of leaving has given me a feeling if great freedom. If I ever post anything on my blog of theirs I will just say a rubber stamp company, I'd hate to promote any single company on my blog. SU wants a demo to give them credit when they use their products on the crafts they create, but they are not allowed to give credit to other companies products they use on the same craft. Are they afraid of competition? Don't they have condfidence in their products? Hard to belive that a company as successful as SU whould have such belifs.

I went to my 1st SU party in the mid 90s and loved it! The one thing I got from it was that they wanted everybody to have fun and share in the creativity. The things that bother me the most about their new "agreement" are regulating what a demo (I'm not one) could put on their PERSONAL blog and the tattle tale army this is possibly fostering. All I'm seeing are Stampin' Up Stepford Wives and where's the fun in that?
But I'd take your stamps. It's been a tough year and free anything sounds great about now.

I'm a UK demo and completely agree with your opinion. Personally I think it's appalling that SU have decided that demos cannot in any shape or form "advertise" another company's products but to be honest I think they're getting scared of the amount of competition they are now getting out in the stamping world. If this policy comes out over here I will drop my demonstratorship like so many American demos are doing.

It seems to me that they are shooting themselves in the foot- I have always had a problem with their ("so called angel policy") I figure if I dole out that much cash to a company for a product that I have t assemble then I pretty much get to do with it what I please.No..SU wants you to buy a set of unmounted stamps that you have to mount(why dont they just sell them unmounted and forget the wood)then after you put that attention getting slogan on the back of your card--you still cannot sell to a reseller...grrrrrr--also if by putting their name on the back they claim the glory for all the images on the card--I usually use 1-4 stamps on a card and if I gave credit for them all I would have to write a small novel on the back of the card--STUPID.I am with you-I refuse to buy another product from this greedy company. S.U you want your product to remain yours even after you sell it--here you can have it SU.Keep the whole wharehouse full of stamps and as you look at them when no one has purchased them remember that WE made you what you are today and stop being so greedy.

Some of my better friends are SU demos and they are great ladies; however, the restrictions of SU and every boxed set has a stamp saying that keeps building up in the quantities for me, such as "happy birthday, thinking of you, you're the best, etc." I could build a nice room on back of my house with the wooden blocks of these sayings, so that started my turn-off with SU; then I heard about their not being able to use other companies' products, then they turned their nice catalogs into GRAY phantom designs - so hard for older eyes to see, and now this requirement they're putting out! My buying of SU is just about totally finished for me because of their restrictive policies. Thanks for letting us vent on your blog (I don't have one), and I do promise to give your stamps a good home if I should be lucky enough for you to draw my name. Nelda Deakins

I honestly think SU will lose with this insane, over controlling policy. They will find that there will be fewer new sales due to heaps of stampers that may not know about SU not getting to view these products on as many blogs. Blogs are one of the best forms of free advertising of any stamping or other crafting product. Not only will they lose future sales but demoes who feel their freedom to do what they want on their private blogs has been tainted by this negective policy and not sign this new policy.

There are way too many new stamping companies that will be only too happy to have their products shown freely on blogs with no such restrictions.

The way I see it SU will be the big losers in this crazy over controlling policy.

You have certainly stood behind your convictions with this decision to rid yourself of your SU stamps. I have a few on-line friends who are demoes and know this will affect them but as I only buy what stamps I really love - it will have only a limited affect on my personal stamp buying choices.

As money is always limited - I usually take a long time to deliberate before buying any new stamps no matter what brand. I even deliberate about ones I no longer use before passing them on to new homes. I love stamping so there is no hope for me when it comes to any new stamps that I acquire whether new or pre-loved!!

I haven't purchased any SU stamps for a few years because they became too pricey for my budget. I do really like some of their images, but other companies provide similar ones at a better price. Would enjoy some "new" stamps as I am out of ideas for an assisted living group I work with.

Wow, this is the first I have heard of this. SU is only hurting themselves.

I had considered for a while to be a SU demonstrator but with all this going on I have definately changed my mind. I don't understand why they think this will help their business. I think in the long run they will loose a bunch of business.

As I see it, SU's sales were not what they wanted so their first reaction is to blame the demos for having links to other products. That is not their problem
The business model that worked so well in the past no longer works. When they started SU, the Internet was not the market place it is today.
They need to evaluate what they do well and focus on just those products. .
Originally they realized people could not buy many of the things they wanted so they decided to sell them everything in a home demonstration setting. That is not the case today. People can order everything they want on-line and few people can spare an entire evening to have a workshop. . However, their niche was paper, and coordinating ribbons, ink , embellishments and rubber stamps. Those are still their core products. Yet they have drastically reduced the ribbon colors . If you want any of the markers or textured paper for the "in colors" you must buy all of them,
Instead of making life difficult for their demos they need to look for ways to make their core products the best in the industry and offer them at "competitive" prices.

Hi Ursula
I completely agree with you. They don't need publicity. I once promised I would never buy SU products here in Canada. I had twice an issue with them. It would be great to have the old SU stamps they were nicer than now. I don't have old SU stamps. I could give them a good home and bette I would not buy them (encourage this company). I don't have a blog and I don't publicise or sell my cards so they won't have free publicity. What do you think about that? Isn't that great?

Sorry for the demo girls because most of them are great and talented persons.

Thanks so muche for giving us a chance to win this super huge blog candy!

I totally understand your point of view and because of this reason and other's of my own, I could never be a SU Demo. There are lots of stamps out there and I love them all. I would love to give your SU stamps a good home.

I think SU is making a big mistake. How can they restrict stampers freedom. I think they will lose out with this. I make cards to put a smile on someone's face and brighten their day. There is nothing like a hand made card. If I won your stamps they will be put to good use to make others happy. Good for you standing up for what you believe in.

I just bought some Stampin Up stamps at the county fair. It's really hard to find good sentiment stamps for the inside of cards so I spent more than I usually would for a set of stamps. They were about $32 but I liked them a lot. But by the time the consultant added up the price with shipping and taxes they were over $40! It really bugged me to pay shipping when I was right there to buy them. (No coupons either!) Then they came (and that took a while) and I had to mount them too. I will think long and hard before buying from them again! I'll be looking for them at garage sales. I would give your stamps a good home.

I do admire you taking a stand for something you believe in. More people should put their money were their mouth is!

Wow - well said. I am a stamp junky, so I'll happily accept your discarded SU! stamps (if I'm fortunate enough to be selected). I am amazed about how affected many stampers are by this policy change. Have you contacted the SU! administrative offices to voice your opinion? I certainly will.

Marilyn (PS: How do you contact us if we do not have a blog?)

Im posting to try and win for my daughter's class at school. I cannot stand the Rules of SU. Personally, I think they are rediculous. It's like they are afraid of some good competiton.
Either way, I would love to have your stamps. My daughter is taking Crafting at school this year as her elective. I would like to donate them to the school. At least put them to good use! :) Short of a Bon Fire!!
Happy Stamping!!

SU has way to many "rules". They are what got me into stamping so I am grateful for that, but have always wondered why they had so many restrictions. I have been slowly refraining from buying SU products mainly because of their prices. This is a great reason to stop altogether. This was not a good move on SU's part.

I admire people who stand up for their convictions! Way to go! I'm a card maker and use lots of different stamps, usually get them off e-bay and garage sales, so they would be a welcome addition to my collection. It's too bad company's keep getting more and more restrictive to their representatives, but still want that almighty dollar!

I found your candy from Gabby's blog on Confessions of a stamper. Don't enter me in the candy please, I would probably just want to give away all the stamps if I won them anyway! I just wanted to say that I am a SU! Demo, but only for a bit longer. I will be sending in my resignation (or whatever I need to do to get OUT) because of their stupid new rule. I have always been a hobby demo, and now that I live in Italy, I am not allowed to sell here because of the Status Of Forces Agreement, and that's fine with me, but according to SU! I can't even mention competing companies! So, I can't legally sell or my DH gets in trouble with the AF, and yet I am being told THIS stupid rule from SU! anyway? Ridiculous! I'm done! Pats-on-the-back to you Ursula!

Hi Ursula, I’ve been stamping less than a year and I'm interested to see how this all plays out. There is so much information swirling around about these changes that it makes my head spin. I don’t envy the demos who have to sort it all out and make a decision. Since I am just starting out I would be honored to give your stamps a new home! I like a lot of SU’s products but sadly, cannot afford to buy them and now, I'm not sure that I would if given the opportunity. Their new policies on their surface, seem rather extreme to me. Kudos to you for standing up for what you believe in!

Since I only have 3 sets of SU stamps to my name, I don't think the company is going to be hurting without my business in the future. I don't want to buy from a company that doesn't seem able to value the relationships that it has with its workers & customers.

While having said that, I would be pleased to take your SU stamps off your hands - free stamps are free stamps! I work in the human service field and love having craft supplies to share with the individuals & families that I work with.

With thanks & appreciation for your generous offer. ~Tara D.

I have heard about this new change & not a fan of it either! I have had nothing to do with SU - except buy their catalogues & drool lol. I know of several people already who I have talked to & they have given up SU as well.
I am more than happy to take the stamps off your hands tho lol ;o) They will be loved as a stamp, not as a brand at this house ;)
